In case you missed it, on Sunday night it was revealed that actor Noma Dumezweni has been cast as Hermione Weasley in the upcoming West End play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Though Hermione was played by Emma Watson in the film adaptations of J.K. Rowling’s series, it has been pointed out that the character’s race was never specified in the books.
On twitter, some people were upset, criticizing the choice as a departure from the original casting, which featured Emma Watson.
But JKR has now taken to Twitter to express her feelings about the new Hermione.
Canon: brown eyes, frizzy hair and very clever. White skin was never specified. Rowling loves black Hermione 😘 https://t.co/5fKX4InjTH
